Oreworld Bentonite for drilling is a kind of high quality Drilling Mud ,which is also nemed drilling gel.. Much of Bentonite's usefulness in the drilling process comes from its unique rheological properties. Drilling mud is crucial in the extraction of drill cuttings during the drilling process. Relatively small quantities of Bentonite suspended in water form a viscous, shear thinning material. Meanwhile, it can advance the suspensions of drilling fluid and improve the lubricating property. For these reasons it is a common component of drilling mud used to curtail drilling fluid invasion by its propensity for aiding in the formation of mud cake.

Drilling Mud

Advantages of Oreworld Drilling Mud
Rise soil/rock cuttings from the bottom of the borehole and carry them to a settling pit;
Allow cuttings to drop out in the mud pit so that they are not re-circulated (influenced by mud thickness, flow rate in the settling pits and shape/size of the pits);
Prevent cuttings from rapidly settling while another length of drill pipe is being added (if cuttings drop too fast, they can build-up on top of the bit and seize it in the hole);
Create a film of small particles on the borehole wall to prevent caving and to ensure that the upward-flowing stream of drilling fluid does not erode the adjacent formation;
Seal the borehole wall to reduce fluid loss (minimizing volumes of drilling fluid is especially important in dry areas where water must be carried from far away);
Cool and clean the drill bit; and
Lubricate the bit, bearings, mud pump and drill pipe

Drilling Mud working principle
When Bentonite mixed with water, it forms a fluid (or slurry) that is pumped through the drill stem, and out through the drill bit. The bentonite extracts the drill cuttings from around the bit, which are then floated to the surface. The drilling mud, or gel, also serves to cool and lubricate the drill bit as well as seal the drill hole against seepage and to prevent wall cave-ins.

OREWORLD®Calcium Bentonite and Sodium Bentonite pessessing good quality of suspensions, rheological property, low-filtration and easy-adjustment for drilling fluid proportion, is the ideal material for well drilling engineering.
